Update Time (First real post!)

Been a bit since I've posted here, so it's about time I fixed that.

Earlier last week, I downloaded and installed both Google Earth and SketchUp. Naturally, the first thing I did upon starting up Google Earth was to find my house, and after that, my dorm here on campus. I noticed that the buildings around campus (unlike those of my home area) were actually 3D models, so that was pretty neat. Without the models, everything just becomes a flattened image as you zoom in.

Haven't done too much with SketchUp yet, though I have made a few basic shapes and played around with some of the tools (such as push/pull). I've done some 3D modeling work using Maya in the past, so I wonder how the programs will compare to each other.

I ended up choosing Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark as my movie for the first assignment. Believe it or not, I'd never seen the whole movie before -- prior to this assignment, I had only really seen the beginning scene (with the temple and boulder chase), and the snake pit scenes (when Jones first goes down there to find the Ark, to when he and Marion get trapped in the Well of Souls). So I decided I might as well take the opportunity to finally see what it was all about.

Now I've seen the first and last of the four Indiana Jones movies; still have yet to see Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade, though I probably will one of these days.

A post!

As the title implies, I'm just doing a test post to see how this looks. I've done a bit of online posting before, but not much, and never as a blog. So this will probably be a bit rocky at first, but hopefully things will smooth out as time goes on.

Anyway, that's about it for now - time to see if this works!
